Casale Primavera is
situated in an area that has yet to be explored
by mass tourism. The region - rich in treasures
of art and culture as well as natural beauty -
was the centre of the Etruscan civilisation.
Nowhere in Italy can the remains of this
civilisation be seen in such abundance as in
this region. In addition, our farm is also very
well situated for other interesting trips as for
instance to Rome at a distance of only 60
km.
Viterbo has a rich history and was a refuge
for the pope during the Middle Ages.
As Tuscia (the
present province of Viterbo) is in fact the
former Etruria (Etruscan territory) you will
still be able to find here many remains:
The history of
Tarquinia, the mother of the Etruscan
region, identifies itself with that of the
Etruscan people. Within the context of the
twelve Etruscan cities, Tarquinia has always
enjoyed a certain amount of supremacy and
prestige that the others did not have.
The attribute of
‘very ancient city’ of which Sutri takes
pride in can be confirmed in the discoveries and
archaeological excavations. However, its real
splendour occurred during the Etruscan period –
from IV cent. B.C. – once fortified on a tuff
rise (the remains of the tuff blocks can still
be seen) it blocked the road and controlled
trade in the inner part of Etruria.
A vast
calcareous platform of about 100 hectares
stretched out on one side of the river Fiora
hosts the remain of Vulci, one of the
great state-cities of Etruria.
Norchia
is one of the greatest and most spectacular of
rocky necropolis in the whole of Etruria and
Italy. The tombs are either cubed or not (from
IV-I cent. B.C.) and are positioned in Terraces
in the osprey slopes facing the urban centre.
Due to its
advantageous topographical position, that is
between the sea, the lake of Bolsena and the
inner regions, it was directed towards different
commercial outlets, thus making Tuscania
one of the major cities of the lucumons of
Tarquinia. The urban centre was situated on the
hill of Saint Peter dominating Marta; many small
villages surrounded it thus bringing about other
necropolis. Its history unravels towards the end
of the VIII century B.C. up to the Roman Empire,
with a growing wealth at first in the VI century
B.C. and then again in the IV-III century B.C.
More interesting
things can be seen in Bagnaia with the Italian
gardens of 'Villa Lante', Caprarola and the
'Farnese' palace, San Martino al Cimino with a
surprising abbatial church of Cistercian origin
near to which stands the imposing Pamphili
Palace (XVII century), Bomarzo with the
'Parco dei Mostri'.
Also for
relaxation and water sports, many possibilities
can be found in our immediate neighbourhood
like: the nature reserve with the volcanic lake
'Lago di Vico', the lake of Bolsena, the
Mediterranean, thermal baths with sulphur
containing water and a golf course in Sutri (18
holes).
Also there are
many possibilities to go for a walk and for
trekking around the lake of Vigo. |
